Bento #86
Mac & cheese with flowers made from ham, delicious apple slices with pink "fairy" sprinkles and cheese. For something sweet, M&M's are in the pink cup.
Surprisingly about half of the M&M's came home uneaten! Other than the M&M's there was just about a Tablespoon of mac & cheese remaining in her box, another successful bento in the life of Maisie!

Disney bento boxes
Recently on a couple of the bento blogs that I stalk read, I found mention of Disney stores* having some cute bento items. Today, since I was going to be in the area of the Disney store @ Town Center Mall,** I decided to work past my hatred of malls to see what was available. The store was well stocked with the selection of bento boxes for girls being Disney Fairies, Princesses and Sleeping Beauty and for boys, Mickey Mouse, Pooh Family and Cars. The boxes are regularly $5.50 each but are currently on sale for 3 for $10. The boxes have a nice tight seal lid with snap-down flaps to hold the box closed along with two removable inner compartments. The boxes are labeled top-rack dishwasher safe but are not microwave safe. In addition to the boxes they also have matching sets of silverware, covered goblets, place mats, plates and bowls all of which are also on sale.
As you can tell by the items I purchased, Maisie's favorite is the Fairies but since she also likes the Princesses I picked up one of those boxes too, couldn't resist. My other good buy in the store was a set of Little Einsteins p.j's, which Maisie just l.o.v.e.s, regularly 2 for $25, on sale for $5.50 each.
Happy shopping!
* I do not see these items available at the online store and in the stores I think they call the bento boxes "snack kits."
** I listed Town Center Mall for the local bento people so that they'll know which store has the items in stock...at least today.

Bento #84
Ham & cheese hearts in the upper left & lower right corners, centered is fairy bread made with light whipped cream cheese and various sprinkles, upper right is a heart of delicious apple with some pink sugar sprinkles, Valentine's M&Ms are in the red heart cup and the letters are made from a raspberry fruit leather. I also included the fruit leather but as we were packing her bento, Maisie ate the fruit leather heart cut-out.
Seven M&Ms, one cheese heart slice and two ham heart slices remained in Maisie's box when I picked her up at school but she finished everything off during the five minute drive home.

Bento #83
Ham & cheese heart shaped sandwich, Valentine M&M's, fruity juice stick, Hello Kitty container with lite ranch dip, broccoli.
On the drive home from school Maisie told me all about her heart shaped sandwich and that she even had M&M's in lunch! It was funny as she was telling it to me like I didn't know, even though we made the sandwich together and she saw the completed bento just before the lid went on. Sometimes my girl just makes me laugh. Thankfully she enjoyed it all as just a few scraps of broccoli remained in the bottom of her box.
