Bento #113

Per Maisie's request, peanut butter monster on wheat with white & semi-sweet chocolate eyes, green hair of sprinkles and fairy sprinkle lipstick with a grape jelly stick hat.

This has become Maisie's favorite sandwich and she loves eating every last drop.

Bento #112

Chocolate peanut butter on wheat monster sandwich with white & semi-sweet chocolate eyes, grape jelly stick and red delicious apple with purple & yellow fairy sprinkles.

Maisie just loves monster sandwiches, I think because she gets chocolate out of the deal. This was the bento that I packed for her final day of Wee School, so sad to see it end. When I picked Maisie up at school she let me know right away that she had eaten her monster and everything else in her bento.

Bento #111

A bento of leftovers. House special lo mein, crackers and fortune cookie.

Lo mein is Maisie's favorite but unfortunately unless pressed she's happy to leave the meat behind. So just as I had expected, her bento returned home with all the meat still remaining but she did eat the shrimp.

Bento #110

Chocolate peanut butter on wheat, chocolate filled marshmallow and raisins.

The highlight of the day was that Maisie loved and ate everything in her bento. Unfortunately the day took a major nose-dive after lunch. To read a blow-by-blow of the train wreck of a day check out this post over at Moments with Maisie.

Bento #109

Chicken & penne Alfredo and per request, chicken teriyaki meatballs, Pocky.

Maisie was back eating again and finished everything in today's bento, yeah!

Bento #108

Chicken teriyaki meatballs, red grapes, baked beans.

Maisie only ate about half of each item today and even later in the day had no interest in eating any more. She said it was all good and she had requested everything in her bento but just wasn't into eating much today.

Bento #107

Chicken teriyaki meatballs, broccoli & carrots, light ranch dip in the Hello Kitty container and grapes.

On days when Maisie eats everything she's always anxious for me to look inside her bento box as soon I pick her up and we're in the car. Sure enough today she told me to look and all that remained was one itty bitty broccoli floret.

Bento #106

The last of the broccoli bites, fig bar, Laughing Cow light cheese & grapes.

Maisie did so much better today eating finishing everything in her bento. Amazing what not eating doughnuts mid-morning will do for a girls appetite.

Bento #105

Ham & cheese rolls, broccoli bites, red delicious apple with fairy sprinkles.

Today was 'Doughnuts with Dad' day at school and Maisie ate quite a few mini doughnuts so come lunch time she just wasn't interested in food. She ate most of the apple but everything else returned home with her. After nap she ate the remainder of the apple and the broccoli bites but never even touched the ham & cheese.

Bento #104

Tuna salad on saltines "sandwiches", broccoli bites and raisins.

When I picked Maisie up from school she told me to look in her bento box because she ate everything and sure enough she had. Another successful bento.

Jenna asked: "How many boxes do you have? They are so cute."
Thank you Jenna. I probably have twenty bento boxes for Maisie and maybe 8 or 10 others that I use for Eammon and myself. When I go to pack Maisie's bento I have an idea of which shape box I'll need based on what's being packed but I've noticed that I tend to get lazy in choosing the box as I just reach in and grab the shape I want, which is usually on top so many of the boxes lay unused on the bottom of the pile.

Thank you to everyone for your questions, I love receiving them and hope that you continue to ask more. Please check out the Questions & Answers link in the sidebar to read more questions and answers.

Bento #103

Paella, red delicious apple with fairy sprinkles.

Super easy and Maisie ate every drop.

I've been asked about the fairy sprinkles and it's just colored decorating sugar that I buy. I'm not into giving Maisie lots of sugar but I've found that when I use the sprinkles she's more willing to eat fruit and more of it. I use less than 1/8 teaspoon so a little goes a long way. She loves it and I'm happy that she's eating fruit so I don't worry about the small amount of sugar.

Bento #102

Mini quiche, raisins, red delicious apple with fairy sprinkles. Animal crackers for snack.

Maisie finished every bit of this bento and that was in fact the first thing she told me when I picked her up this afternoon.

Bento #101

Mozzarella cheese stick, carrot sticks, light ranch dip in the Hello Kitty container, chicken nuggets, red delicious apple with fairy sprinkles.

All of the cheese stick and about 1/3 of the carrot sticks returned home with Maisie today. She said that she was to full to eat her everything which was probably the case as this was one tightly packed and full bento.

100th Bento and Giveaway Winner

I am completely overwhelmed by the number of people who responded to the giveaway and I thank everyone for entering. I also want to thank people for all the kind comments, emails and well wishes after my ER kidney stone episode last week. Thankfully that drama ended Thursday but Friday I came down with bronchitis and poor Maisie has been suffering with major pollen allergies so we've been a little slow in getting ourselves sorted out and pulling the giveaway winner.

My favorite part of this whole giveaway has been all the new blogs that I've been exposed to through the comments. My bloglines reading list has increased and I can't wait to follow along with everyone.

Before I announce the winner of the giveaway, here is Maisie's 100th bento.

Toasted cheese sandwich, raisins, carrot sticks, Bombolin cookie and light ranch dip in the Hello Kitty container.

When I picked Maisie up, half of her sandwich along with about half the carrot sticks remained uneaten but she finished everything off during the drive to gymnastics

Now what you've all been waiting for, the winner of the giveaway via a Maisie random drawing:

Congratulations Tammy from Our Three Daughters! Tammy's blog is new to me and it seems that bento is new to her so I hope that she and her girls enjoy all the items in the giveaway and I hope that she'll post her creations. Also after reading through some of her blog, it was fun to find out that her youngest daughter loves gymnastics just like Maisie. You can check out some of Maisie's gymnastics moves in the two videos at the bottom of this post.

Congratulations again Tammy and please email your address so I can get your package in the mail. Thanks again to everyone who follows along and to those who entered the giveaway.

100th bento delayed

I had planned to reach Maisie's 100th bento yesterday but those plans were waylaid by a kidney stone which landed me in the ER Thursday morning. So the new post date for Maisie's 100th bento will be Monday and I'll extend the bento giveaway until that night at midnight. So pop on over and enter the Maisie Eats Bento 100th Bento Giveaway with the new deadline of Midnight on Monday, April 6. Good luck!

Bento #99

Chicken & cheese quesadilla, raisins, fruity jelly & animal crackers.

If I hide the chicken, she'll eat it! Unlike yesterday when all the chicken returned home uneaten, today only a tiny little piece of quesadilla returned home with Maisie and it was because she said she was too "full-up" to finish her bento.

Don't forget to enter the Maisie Eats Bento 100th Bento Giveaway, entry deadline is Sunday @ midnight EST. Good luck!

Bento #98

Chicken tenders, carrot coins, fruity jelly, chocolate filled marshmallow, ranch dressing dip in the Hello Kitty container.

Even though little Miss Maisie ate the chicken tenders for dinner the night before, she decided at lunchtime that she didn't like chicken anymore. Oh well, she at least ate everything other than the chicken.

Don't forget to enter the Maisie Eats Bento 100th Bento Giveaway, entry deadline is Sunday @ midnight EST. Good luck!

100th Bento Giveaway!! ~~CLOSED~~

I can't believe that I'm just three away from Maisie's 100th bento piccie!! I've so enjoyed making simple, easy, sometimes more elaborate but always fun and interesting bentos for Maisie. Seeing Maisie's tastes change and seeing her become more adventurous with food is in large part thanks to making food fun and packing bento. I love the days that she comes home from school telling me that her bento was beautiful or delicious and especially when she tells me that the other children have boring lunches and that she loves her bentos.

To celebrate Maisie's 100th bento I've decided to do a little giveaway to maybe encourage and introduce someone new to bento with a nice little starter kit or to add to the collection of a current bento packer.

So, what's the prize and how to enter??

Everything pictured above is included and it's all brand new in original wrappers. Smiley face seaweed cutter/puncher, Clickety Click triangle monkey case, rabbit & bear boiled egg molds, Clickety Click single tier monkey snack bento box, Clickety Click 2-tier monkey bento box, silicon animal cups, animal food picks, monkey lunch box belt, yellow lunch bag.

To enter for a chance to win via a random drawing:

* Leave a comment on this post which includes your email address and country.
AND
* Post on your blog that you have entered the Maisie Eats Bento 100th Bento Giveaway with a link back to Maisie Eats Bento.

Not required but I'd love to have you become a follower of this blog. See the side bar to become a follower.

Easy peasy.

I should reach 100 bentos by the end of next week so, the giveaway contest will close on Sunday, April 5 at midnight Eastern Standard Time.

Good luck!

Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut butter sandwich, banana cream filled cookie, carrot sticks & grapes.

Maisie ate everything but a couple of carrot sticks which she finished later in the day.

Bento #95

This marks my 100th post on Maisie Eats Bento and I'm also coming up on my 100th bento so I think a give-a-way is in order. I'm going to get some nice bento items together and when I post my 100th bento we'll do a give-a-way so please keep checking back.

Cheese pizza, grapes & banana cream filled cookie.

Maisie ate everything but a small piece of the pizza dough.

Bento #94

Ham flower, mini-quiche, grapes.

Just some of the ham remained uneaten.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Bento #93

Ham flower, chicken & corn dumplings, grapes and fruity jelly.

A nice empty bento box returned home from school today.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Bento #92

Ham & cheese rolls, grapes, fruity jelly and under the jelly a banana cream filled cookie.

Half of the ham & cheese rolls returned home and Maisie had no interest in eating them even later in the day. It may have just been a little too much food for her after her stomach bug.

Bento #91

Dora the Explorer Spaghetti O's, grapes, Laughing Cow cheese, fruity jelly.

A successful bento as Maisie ate every drop.
